A wind turbine blade weighs 14 tons. chart.

Firefighter on duty Timo Silvan He says the blade of a wind turbine at Jamijarvi in Satakunda was broken.

According to Silvan's estimate, the 14-tonne blade broke in half, meaning the fallen part weighed several thousand kilograms. They fell from a height of a few hundred meters.

– The blade is made of fiberglass, so more parts fall out. Although the parts are small, they still weigh thousands of kilograms. That's why I didn't dare to go near and see.

Because of this, Sylvan doesn't know what kind of mountain terrain the fallen part might have spawned.

At present visitors are also not allowed to enter the area. Silvan says the rescue service's job in this case is to prevent damage and isolate the area, as well as report the matter. Wind turbine repair requires special expertise, so the maintenance company is responsible for it.

– There is only one road that ends in the area, so it was easy to isolate. We also checked that there were no human traces in the snow in the surrounding landscape.

For example, Silvan says you shouldn't go out in that area in general.

– At most, a rabbit man can get lost in skiing, but at least it is not now, we are well aware of it on local channels. People shouldn't go there now to ski.

According to Silvan, such cases are extremely rare and have never happened before in the area of this particular care facility.
