The Porsche Daycon is now better than ever

Kidnapping news 10.2.2024

The Porsche Taycan “2.0” is the best version in almost every way. Attention is easily drawn to the new Turbo S with 700 kW.

Porsche's first electric car is now up to date, thanks to a more significant update than its looks suggest. The Taycan has already been in production for five years, during which time electric cars have taken strides forward, and the Taycan's update has attempted to catch up.

While the most recently introduced new-generation Macan adopts the new PPE electric car base architecture for the first time in the entire group, the Taycan continues to use the MSB architecture of the group's combustion-engined, rear-wheel-drive flagship sedans. A more developed solution, all reforms have been made within its framework.

Among other things, more power

Taycan model versions will follow four names in the future, including Taycan, Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S. Some time ago, we heard news of the four-door all-electric lap time from the Nurburgring. Cars by Porsche. There was a previously unknown version of the Taykon with a fixed rear wing, which could be expected to be announced as the top model within a year.

Each model version of the updated collection is more efficient than its counterpart before the update. Thanks to that especially the new rear engine, which has been reduced by 10 kilograms compared to the previous one, and can produce up to 80 kW more power than before.

The base model, rear-wheel drive Taycan now produces 320 kW, the more modest four-wheel drive model Taycan 4S 440 kW, the “very modest” Taycan Turbo 660 kW and the mind-boggling Taycan Turbo S around 700 kW. If Porsche names an electric car a Turbo, the electric car's power reading is talking about horsepower. So the Turbo S makes an absolutely incredible 952 horsepower of peak power when launch control is activated. The Sport Chrono package has a jumper that provides full power arms for ten seconds.

All model versions go from 0 to 100 at least 0.4 but up to 0.6 seconds faster than their predecessors. The Taycan Turbo S now takes just 2.4 seconds.

In addition to a worthy attempt to quench his insatiable thirst for power, Daikon's reforms also focus on other, shall we say more reasonable things.

As good as an electric car

From a day-to-day driving perspective, the more significant innovations than the power jumps are the substantial improvements in range and charging speed.

In the future, the Taycan will be powered by a larger battery with a total capacity of 105 kWh compared to the previous 93 kWh. Among other things, the thermal management of the battery has been improved, in addition, the recovery of braking energy is more efficient than before. The Daikon benefits from a new heat pump. With all this, at least on paper, a significant milestone has been reached in the operational journey. The biggest gains have been achieved in the four-door rear-wheel drive model, whose declared WLTP range has increased by 175 kilometers and now stands at a decently sound 678 kilometers. A 35 percent increase in comparison to the world's largest electric car in Norway in collaboration with the local NAF and Finnish Autoliito will certainly be impressive.

The Taycan now needs to be charged less often than before, and the charging time should also be shorter. At 800 volts direct current, the Daikon's battery can receive up to 320 kilowatts, 50 kilowatts more than before. With such a super-efficient charger, it only takes 18 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent; It is almost half less than before.

Adaptive air suspension as standard

In the future, all Daikons will be equipped with adaptive air suspension, whose task is to keep the car stable in every situation, whether you accelerate from zero to 100 in 2.4 seconds with the Turbo S or drive the Daikon Cross Turismo. A flat country lane – or Mannerheimintie – with traditional dishes in the trunk.

In the name of aerodynamics, the car lowers its ground clearance by two centimeters at high speeds.

Notice the facelift?

The Taycan has actually received a facelift, which doesn't change the look of the car much. The facelift mainly talks about the redesign of the air intakes and the updated, 3D-inspired look of the rear lights.

Updated HD matrix headlights can be seen at the front.

In addition, the number of color, wheel and other customization options on the Taycan is high. In that field, Porsche is light years ahead of, for example, Tesla.

The car will continue to be offered as a four-door, lower station wagon / shooting brake Sport Turismo and a facelifted “Life Edition” Cross Turismo. As the Sport Turismo model version was discontinued in connection with the recent Panamera refresh due to low demand, these long roofs will be the only station wagon-style Porsches for the foreseeable future.

For example, it will be interesting to see if the full electrification of the Macan will have an impact on sales of the Taycan Cross Turismo.

The price has also gone up

To top it all off, Taycan prices have also risen – at a very significant rate for a time.

The cockpit is also the latest Porsche.

The four-door model's starting price of 107,990 euros is 15,000 euros more than its predecessor, and you have to remember that despite the same name and starting prices, it's not identical. The Taycan 4S costs €128,990 new, the Turbo €186,990 and you'll need to be prepared to pay at least €223,990 to enjoy the Turbo S's delicacies.

For the Sport Turismo, an additional price of exactly one thousand euros is always demanded for each model version. The initial model of the Cross Turismo is the four-wheel drive Taycan 4 with adventure plastics, which is asked for 119,990 euros. It's followed by the 4S, at 134,990 euros; Turbo, 188,990 euros and the sum of the Turbo S Cross Turismo counters, 224,990 euros.

Since sales have already started, the renewed Daigon will have time for summer grazing.
